Patricia A. Fenati is announcing her 2018 Candidacy for State Delegate in District 14 at a kickoff party on February 13th with Dave Bossie as her Guest Speaker.
Fenati believes REDISTRICTING - is a top priority for citizens of this state who want fair representation, who want representatives who are aware of their issues and who value the voice of those who elected them.
Fenati has lived in Damascus in the north most corner of her district and is concerned that there is no representation in the north of the county for any office, State or County.
She believes there are two causes of this disparity:
- Gerrymandering for Congressional Districts and for State and County Districts - current district lines were drawn to favor one party.
- At-Large Districts for both State and County offices.
- There should be nine different County Districts instead of five Districts and four At-Large Seats.
- State Senate Districts should be broken into three Delegate Districts, so that Delegates would live nearer their constituents and understand local problems.
Governor Hogan has a plan to create a non-partisan commission for redrawing district lines, but this plan has not yet been accepted by the General Assembly.
Another priority is that Maryland’s EDUCATION funding be funneled to the classroom. The quality of children’s education should not depend on their zip code. It is very important that all children are challenged to do the best they can. Low expectations, low standards and lack of discipline are stumbling blocks for all those who dream of a better tomorrow.
JOB CREATION is also a focus for Fenati. With many years of business experience as a small business owner and a network engineer at a variety of large corporations, she is convinced that government can’t create jobs. Pat has learned that innovation and a strong business environment are the real engine of job creation. Government’s responsibility is to create conditions conducive to economic growth.
The state of Maryland is more open to business now because Governor Hogan understands this concept and is working to Change Maryland, but our Governor needs more support in the General Assembly. Fenati wants to be elected to give him that support in 2018.
